About Women in Art X3
Women in Art x3 began completely by chance. The three artists were presenting their
work individually when John Hurley, owner/curator of Eau Gallie
Gallery, asked them to participate as a group in a “three woman show.”
This well-known gallery, in the quaint
village of
Rockton,
Illinois, once showcased artists from the Northern Illinois area but
unfortunately, is no longer in operation. However, it was not uncommon
for visitors to discover the artistic quality and uniqueness of the
art pieces featured there, were from local talent and not from artists
throughout the country.
The success of the four-day, two weekend show, proved these three
women artists show well together. Many who attend agree it can
be attributed to the artist’s differing styles coming together to
provide art-goers with an artistic experience that beckons a piece to
enjoy for their very own.
In time, Women in Art x3 established three major goals. Assist other
artists through mentoring, provide networking opportunities, and
support the community by donating a percentage of show sales to local
charitable organizations. Most recently, Women in Art x3 hosted
their 2008 Garden Art Show, which featured 20 guest artists. Among the
visitors included prominent local figures and many art-goers from
throughout the state-line area.
