I am a self-taught fiber artist who uses a variety of
techniques, including stitching, dying, painting, beading and
other embellishments. Working often with vintage textiles,
particularly kimonos and obis that are in disrepair, I construct
fabric collages. Some of my work addresses my concerns about our
environment--both interior and exterior. Even in work addressing
serious issues I sometimes find humor and whimsy agreeable
companions.
I have studied surface design at Penland School of Craft in
North Carolina; locally take classes at Womanspace; and continue
to explore the creative process at workshops with Sas Colby.
I have exhibited in solo and group shows at Gallery Ten in
Rockford, Charlene's Gallery Ten in Door County, JR Kortman's
Gallery, 317 Market St., Eau Gallie Gallery in Rockton, New
Dimensions Gallery at Womanspace, John Berry's Gallery, and the
1985 Women's Show at Rockford Art Museum. During Art Scene my
work is at Bennie's Cleaners. |
